Red Door Concerts at St Peter’s Church Linlithgow

For music lovers tracking intimate, high-calibre live jazz and folk performance, the creative concert seasons curated and promoted by Robin Connelly shifted their locus a few years ago from Leith to the historic surroundings of Linlithgow. Finding a natural home at St Peter’s Church on the High Street, these carefully programmed events have cultivated a reputation for bringing world-class folk, roots, and acoustic talent right into the heart of the community.

The autumn programme gets underway in just over three weeks, offering a stimulating trio of musical evenings that showcase song-writing, traditional mastery, and world-class instrumentation.

The season opens on Friday 25th September at 8pm (with doors opening at 7.30pm) with the return of Boo Hewerdine. A singer, songwriter, and raconteur, Hewerdine is renowned for crafting thoughtful, well-turned songs—such as the exquisite ‘Patience of Angels’ featured on Eddi Reader’s album Mirmama. His live performances combine poignant musicality with storytelling, making for an notable opening night.

The music continues on Friday 30th October 30 at 8pm (doors at 7.30pm) with the welcome return of Shetland fiddle and piano duo, Jenna Reid and Harris Playfair. Their intricate musicianship, deep-rooted roots sensibility, and dynamic interplay will create a special atmosphere within the stone walls of St Peter's.

Rounding out the autumn trio on Sunday 15th November at 7.30pm (doors at 7pm) is folk and roots legend Martin Simpson. Widely regarded as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitarists performing today, Simpson brings a lifetime of tone, texture, and interpretative subtlety to the Linlithgow stage.
