Mahler Players announcements
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony
We are pleased to announce that on 29th and 30th May 2027 we will make our debuts in the Empire Theatre at Eden Court and Caird Hall Dundee performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This will be the culmination of our acclaimed Beethoven cycle, which we have been working on since 2022.
In the first half will be the Prelude from Act 1 of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, followed by the extraordinary Quintet from Act 3, featuring our world-class soloists. Finishing the first half will be a chance for the chorus to shine in Wagner's ‘Freudig begrüßen wir die edle Halle’ (joyfully we greet the noble hall) from Tannhäuser. Joining us for this and then Beethoven 9 will be the Mahler Singers, a handpicked chorus from across the north and north-east of Scotland.

There are just under six weeks to go until our next performance. We will present Bruckner's Fifth Symphony in Inverness Cathedral in a one-off concert at 4pm on Sunday 22nd November. We look forward to bringing this extraordinary work, arguably Bruckner's greatest symphony, to life in these ideal surroundings.
Our previous performances of Bruckner's Third and Fourth Symphonies sold out, so it's worth securing your tickets early if you would like to come.

Easter 2027 - save the date!
We have exciting plans in Strathpeffer over the Easter weekend 2027. On 26th and 29th March we will give two semi-staged performances of our acclaimed production of Parsifal. The cast will be largely the same as our May 2026 production, including the legendary Sir John Tomlinson in the role of Gurnemanz. There will be a festival atmosphere, with chamber music and talks throughout the weekend, with the Spa Pavilion the venue for most of the events. Visiting artists will include the Brodsky Quartet, pianist Llŷr Williams and the Dava Ensemble; speakers will include Matthew King, David Vernon and Professor Christopher Janaway.
Further announcements will follow shortly and tickets will go on sale in late October.
We look forward to sharing this music with you and hope to see you soon!
